- Student Activities
Mrs. DeRubis and Mrs. Johnson's 8th-grade classes put on a mock trial this week. Students researched primary and secondary sources to answer who was responsible for the crimes against the Taino people after 1492. Students represented lawyers, witnesses, several individual perspectives, and jurors learning not only about early colonialism but how our current criminal justice system works. Jurors even kept notes on weak and strong arguments presented by the attorneys. What a great hands-on way to involve all learners!
