Students cheer for the winning Sproul Winter Olympics' Team

Sproul Junior High focuses on teaching the whole child. We establish relationships with students and learn how to help each person grow as an individual so that they can become a positive, productive citizen.

Activities outside of the classroom can help facilitate and foster these relationships. We offer a wide variety of ways our students can get involved and connect with positive peers and adults.

There are also opportunities for our families to get involved including joining our Building Accountability & Advisory Committee (BAAC) and working in WSD3!

Athletics

Sproul is a part of The South Metro League!

Widefield School District 3 partners with three other districts, Fountain District 8, Cheyenne District 12, and Falcon District 49, to create the South Metro League.

We have Varsity and Junior Varsity teams for all sports except football. Football is 7th and 8th grade only.
All students, including 6th graders, have the opportunity to try out for sports (except in football). However, ALL students must have physicals to play sports. We do not charge students to play sports or spectators to watch events except wrestling tournaments.

August - Beginning of October = Football, Volleyball, and Cross Country
October - November = Wrestling and Girls' Soccer
November - February = Girls' Basketball
February - March = Boys' Basketball
March - May = Softball, Boys' Soccer, and Track

Building Accountability and Advisory Committee (BAAC)

WHAT IS BAAC?

The Building Accountability and Advisory Committee (BAAC) is a group of parents, community members, administrators, and teachers that meets quarterly. The school staff members give updates about Sproul and the programs being provided for your child, while giving parents and community members an opportunity to ask questions. This is a great chance to meet our staff and get to foster those community-to-school relationships.

Please join us! You will find the conversation to be interesting, and your attendance allows you to give your input on school issues. We look forward to seeing you!

KSJHS Student News

KSJHS Student News is a class for 7th and 8th grade students in which they create a 4 - 7 minute newscast each day. This broadcast is shown live at 2:40 pm to all students and then posted on our KSJHS Student News page. In order to become a part of this class, students need to apply and then go through an interview and tryout at the end of each school year for the next.

Student Leadership

Leadership is a semester long class where students will learn leadership skills through community service projects, running the student store, and spearheading Sproul events. Skills such as public speaking, counting money, advertising, and planning are all a part of this program. Students will increase their self-confidence and become role models for their peers. Integrity, initiative, and a strong work ethic is a must for this class.

Winter Olympics

Sproul Winter Olympics is undoubtably the best day of the year! This tradition began in 1984, and is one of the events most remembered by former students. It is sort of like a field day, but better. All students and staff members are divided into teams and create posters, videos, chants and more. Students can put their names in a drawing to become athletes to represent their teams on the big day. They compete in fun activities trying to win the coveted trophy.

INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR YEARBOOK!

Our Yearbook and Journalism staff work hard every year to showcase every student and event that happens at Sproul. Students take all photographs and write all copy to produce our yearbook. The class is during our E7 period and all students must apply in order to be placed in the class.

Yearbooks can be ordered online by clicking on the picture and paying with card or you can use cash or check by ordering in the front office.
